Music: Benjamin Clementine
just incase we ever feel that we are alone!
I recently saw Cat Power live as part of the Brighton Festival. She was brilliant, but obviously you don’t need me to tell you that.
However, I was particularly enamoured with the support act. Playing piano in a hushed and totally darkened room, Benjamin Clementine was mesmerising. He has been likened to Nina Simone, but also reminded me a little bit of Rufus Wainwright and my friend Jack Lucan. Swoopy vocals and a sort of grandiose classicism, but with a proper touch of modern London.
I’m a little bit obsessed.
